Deleting/Archiving a device in Snow License Manager creates an error message "Archiving server is not up and running! "
SLM Archiving service does not exist in the customers environment but it is being referenced when deleting devices in SLM.
- SLM 9.8
- SLM 9.10
Following an SLM upgrade to SLM 9.10 the Archiving service was not created.
- Check to see if the Archiving service installation path exists. The default path is "C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Services\Archiving". If it does not exist please contact Snow Support for assistance.
- Once the installation files exist in the correct path, open a command prompt as an Administrator. Instructions how to do this are available here.
- Then run the command below to create the service:
sc create "Snow Software SLM Archiving Service" binpath="C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Services\Archiving\SnowSoftware.LicenseManager.Archiving.Runtime.exe"
- You should then see the Snow Software SLM Archiving Service in the Windows Services list.
- Start the service, then retry archiving a device in SLM to see if the error has been removed.
