Problem
Commander log files are no longer populating with current information. Examing the logs, you see messages similar to this:2022-03-15 08:33:07,793 [Log4j2-TF-1-ConfiguratonFileWatcher-42] [INFO ] catalina.loader.WebappClassLoaderBase - Illegal access: this web application instance has been stopped already. Could not load [META-INF/services/org.apache.logging.log4j.core.util.WatchEventService]. The following stack trace is thrown for debugging purposes as well as to attempt to terminate the thread which caused the illegal access.
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Illegal access: this web application instance has been stopped already. Could not load [META-INF/services/org.apache.logging.log4j.core.util.WatchEventService]. The following stack trace is thrown for debugging purposes as well as to attempt to terminate the thread which caused the illegal access.
Solution
This issue occurs when a syntax error has been introduced in the log4j2.xml file controlling the log activity. For example, if you intended to add the logger:
<Logger level="DEBUG" name="workflow"/>but instead typed it in as:
<Logger level= "DEBUG" name="workflow">The logging would fail with the message shown above. Correct any syntax errors and restart the Commander Service in order to correct the issue. Alternatively, contact Commander Technical Support to provide the correct file for your version of Commander if you wish to start fresh with the file as originally installed.
