- Set up the AD discovery on the Inventory server
- Let the machines being imported
- Have the machines sent a snowpack to inventory server
- Reassign the IP address of one machine to another (assuming they have the same site name)
- Verify the topology and the lookup
- Wait about an hour for the next clientid assignation
- Verify the table inv.discoverymetadata
- For the clientid assigned to the hostname in inv.discoverymetadata, we have a different hostname in inv.agentmanifest

Correction: Snow Inventory Server now implements a more accurate mapping of computers which reported inventory data and computers that were discovered on the network or in Active Directory. The new feature "Site name grouping" is used to further improve the results of the mapping; note: this might require some additional configuration to be performed in the Admin Console. (PRB0042365)

An analysis of the discovery-related data in the Snow Inventory database (table inv.DiscoveryMetadata) shows that some discovered computers are linked to the ClientId of others. This turned out to be related to the topologies and lookups that the DiscoveryClientIdMapWorkerModule builds to compare the discovery and the inventory data and link the records.
