Computer names are duplicating on the Search Computer page. The All Computers report it is displaying the computers correctly, with no duplication.
The behavior has been observed on Snow License Manager 9.x.
To check if this applies to you:
- Check for any duplicate entries within Datacenters and Clusters.
- View that row by clicking it and then checking the virtual machines tab. This will list the virtual machines.
- Compare the list with the duplicate machine shown on the Search Computer page.
- If you see it in the list, follow the same steps for the second duplicate row on the Datacenters and Clusters list.
If you are certain that you are experiencing these symptoms, follow the steps below to remove one of the entries:
- Browse to Datacenters and Clusters to see the duplicated rows.
- Compare the duplicates by clicking each row and notin the ID in the URL as shown below.
- Note which duplicate has the higher ID. However, it is not always the lower ID that you have to delete/remove. To verify this you can check within the database itself or on Hosts tab which row has the latest last scanned date:
- Remove the lower ID (providing it has the earlier last scanned date) by clicking Edit datacenter/cluster.
- Click Delete, then confirm by clicking OK button.
- Return to the Datacenters and Clusters list and confirm that you have removed the duplication. Also check within the Search for Computers for the machine.
NOTE: If you see instances of Datacenter and Clusters duplication, you have to remove one to ensure the other duplicate computer name showing in the Search Computer page will disappear. This is because the duplication is at the Datacenter/Cluster level containing the virtual machine.
