When you import EKS clusters into Ocean in the console, some clusters may not appear in the list. This can happen for several reasons, including unsupported versions, missing node groups, or IAM permission issues.
Checking the items below helps you identify why the cluster is missing.
- Make sure you’re in the correct AWS Region.
Only clusters from the selected Region appear in the import list. - Verify that you have the correct IAM permissions.
Use the most recent version of the Flexera policy so you can read cluster details - Check the Kubernetes version for your cluster.
- The EKS version must still be supported by Amazon. Deprecated or retired versions don’t appear in the import list.
- Flexera supports an EKS version starting two months after Amazon releases it.
- A version is deprecated when Amazon ends standard support.
- A version is retired when Amazon ends extended support.
- Confirm that your cluster has at least one node group.
The node group doesn’t need running nodes, but it must exist in the AWS console for the cluster to appear. - If your cluster uses an Auto Scaling group (ASG), import it using the legacy design:
-
-
In the console, go to Ocean > Cloud clusters > Create cluster.
-
Select Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) > Continue.
-
Select Revert to legacy design.
-
Choose Import from Auto Scaling group.
-
After correcting Region, permissions, version, or node group configuration, your cluster appears in the import list and can be added to Ocean.
