When using the FlexNet Inventory Agent as an inventory source, file evidence scanning can be enabled and configured from the UI. This configuration includes the ability to exclude specific file paths from scanning. Excluding the recycling bin is a common best practice for agents running on Windows machines.
NOTE: By default, the FlexNet Inventory Agent does not collect any file evidence.
Follow these steps to exclude the recycling bin from file evidence scanning:
- Navigate to the Inventory Settings page.
- In the File Evidence section, locate the Windows folders section under the Excluded file evidence heading.
- If not already selected, choose the Specify additional folders to exclude option.
- In the text box that appears, enter the following path:
C:\*Recycle.Bin*
This excludes the recycling bin on the C drive. You can use other drive letters to exclude bins on additional drives. To exclude more paths, click the plus (+) icon and add additional entries as needed.
- Select Save.
