This article explains what happens when the RN150 virtual appliance is restarted during an ongoing performance scan. Restarting the RN150 appliance temporarily pauses data collection but does not affect previously collected or uploaded performance data.
What happens during a restart

The restart stops any active performance scans, as the appliance shuts down during reboot. Data collection resumes automatically when the appliance restarts. |

Already uploaded data remains safely stored in the RISC portal. The restart does not delete or corrupt historical data. |

If the Discovery and Inventory stages were already completed, rediscovery is not required. The appliance resumes normal operation after the restart. |

The RISC portal is cloud-based and independent of the RN150’s uptime. All uploaded data and visualizations remain accessible. |

Overall impact |
Minimal. Data collection pauses temporarily and resumes automatically once the RN150 is back online. |
Recommended restart procedure
To prevent data corruption or system issues, always perform a graceful restart:
- Use the appliance’s shutdown or reboot command to restart cleanly.
- Avoid power cycling or forced shutdowns.
