While using Cloud Migration/CloudScape, you may encounter the error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED when attempting to inventory Windows devices. This is a common issue and can usually be resolved by verifying credentials and testing connectivity with WBEMTest.
Step 1: Verify credentials in RN150
- Ensure the credentials entered into the RN150 are correct.
- Re-enter the username and password to confirm there are no typos.
- The account used must be either a Domain Administrator or Local Administrator. Standard user accounts will not work.
Step 2: Test access with WBEMTest
Run WBEMTest from another device in the same network to validate credentials and WMI connectivity.
- On a Windows machine, select Start, type wbemtest, and press Enter.
- In the WBEMTest window, select Connect.
- In the Namespace field, enter:
\\<computer name>\root\cimv2replacing<computer name>with the hostname of the target device. - Enter the administrator account username and password.
- Select Connect.
-
- If authentication is successful, you will see WbemServices, and the tabs will be active.
- If authentication fails, review the error message and follow Microsoft’s guidance on enabling remote WMI access: User Account Control and WMI.
Step 3: Retry the scan in RN150
After resolving authentication issues and confirming successful WBEMTest results, re-enter the credentials in the RN150 and perform a rescan.
Once valid administrator credentials are confirmed and WMI access is enabled, the RN150 will successfully inventory your Windows devices without the NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED error.
