If a service stops immediately after starting, check the service path for incorrect formatting. You may also see event ID 7000 and 7009 errors in the Windows System event log.
Although the error appears to be a timeout, it is often caused by a misformatted path. The Service Control Manager may display error 1053, which misleadingly suggests a timeout issue but does not mention the path formatting problem.
To resolve this issue, verify and correct the service path in the Windows registry.
- Open the Registry Editor.
- Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services<ServiceName>\ImagePath - Review the path for formatting errors. A common issue is a missing quotation mark, especially in services with multiple path arguments.
Examples of correctly formatted paths:
"C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Services\MongoDB\bin\mongod.exe" --auth --dbpath=
"C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow License Manager\Services\MongoDB\data" --logpath="C:\Program Files\Snow Software
\Snow License Manager\Services\MongoDB\log\mongod.log" --service
"C:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow Inventory\Server\snowserver.exe" -w "C:\Program Files\Snow Software
\Snow Inventory\Server"
Correcting the path should allow the service to start successfully.
