As a result of changes made to the InstallScript engine, starting with InstallShield 12, the InstallScript defined variable SUPPORTDIR no longer points to the location of the files specified in the Support Files view in InstallShield. This applies to InstallScript Custom Actions in InstallScript MSI and Basic MSI projects.Discussion
The recommended method to retrieve the location for the Support Files in an InstallScript Custom Action is to use the MSI property SUPPORTDIR, which is set by InstallShield's Custom Action ISSetupFilesExtract. The following code demonstrates how this can be achieved:
function MyFunction(hMSI)
string supportDir;
number buffer;
begin
string supportDir;
number buffer;
begin
buffer=256;
MsiGetProperty(hMSI, "SUPPORTDIR", supportDir, buffer);
MessageBox(supportDir, INFORMATION);
end;
NOTE: This should also work in earlier versions of InstallShield but may not be necessary.
