Situation reported when using billboards on an unsupported operating systemSymptoms
Preparing to Install window appears and then closes with no error message once extraction is complete.Cause
In a Basic MSI project, when billboards are included and a setup.exe release is used. If the OS architecture is not compatible with the installation architecture set in the template summary. When the setup.exe is launched it extracts the MSI and then closes without any error message. No information is presented to the end users to indicate why the installation has failed.Steps To Reproduce
- Create new Basic MSI project
- Set Template Summary on General Information view to 'x64;1033'
- Add new Billboard using Billboards view on Installation Designer tab
- Launch setup.exe on 32 bit operating system
Resolution
While this issue is addressed use the Suite project type.Additional Information
