Summary

Symptoms

When building a release in Express, the following build error occurs:

"Error: -1007: Cannot copy source <PATH>\English (United States).txt to target <PATH>\English (United States).txt"

Cause

The following are common causes of this error message. More causes will be added as they are identified.

1. This error occurs when a folder is created with a space character at the end of the folder name. For example, the following folder structure in the Destination computer's folders section contains a space at the end:

   "[Program Files]\MyFolder\MySubFolder "

2. This error occurs if a file linked in the project is missing from its source location on the machine. If the file is missing its link, the project will show "***File Not Found***" in the Modified section, corresponding to the file name in the destination computer's Files view. This will only cause the error when building an uncompressed release.

Resolution

Resolution for Cause 1

Remove any spaces at the end of a folder name. Spaces can be used to separate words in a folder name, but the builder does not permit spaces at the end of the folder name. Some examples of valid folder names are:

"[Program Files]\My Sub Folder"

"[Program Files]\MySubFolder"

1. Navigate to the Destination computer?s folders section.

2. Right-click on the folder name and select Rename.

3. Delete the space at the end of the folder name.

4. Rebuild the release.

Resolution for Cause 2

Identify the file with the invalid link in the project, delete it, and then re-insert it.

1. In the Files view, locate the file with the missing link and delete it from the project.

2. Re-insert it from its source location on the development machine.

3. Rebuild the release.
