How does one use one's own bitmap in the SdWelcome, SdFinish, and SdFinishReboot dialog boxes?

Discussion

1. Before making any modification to the existing _IsUser.dll, please access the following directory: \InstallShield\InstallShield Professional \Examples\Custom Dialog and make a copy of this folder in another location.

   Note: will contain the version of InstallShield Professional installed on the system. For example, if InstallShield Professional 6.3 was installed on the C drive, the path would be: "C:\Program Files\InstallShield\InstallShield Professional 6.3\Examples\Custom Dialog".

2. Make any and all modifications to _IsUser.dll from the folder that you copied. This is also where you should access these files for changes made in the future.

3. With Microsoft Visual C++, open _IsUser.dll.
   1. Go to File and select Open.

   2. Go to the folder that you copied in step 1 and open the file _IsUser.dsp, which is in Custom Dialog\VC++ 6 Project.

   3. Make sure that you?re in the ResourcesView tab.

   4. Double-click the folder _IsUser resources, then double-click the Dialog folder.

4. With Microsoft Visual C++, open _IsRes.dll.
   1. Go to File and select Open, select Resources in the "Open as" list box, and select "All Files (*.*)" in the "Files of type" list box.

   2. Go to the folder C:\Program Files\InstallShield\InstallShield Professional 6.X\Redistributable\Compressed Files\0009-English\Intel 32 and select the file _isres.dll.

   3. Once _isres.dll is open double-click the Dialog folder.

   4. Select the resource IDs for the SdWelcome, SdFinish, and SdFinishReboot dialogs. You can do this by first selecting number 12006 (SdWelcome), then, while holding the Ctrl key, select numbers 12031 (SdFinishReboot) and 12032 (SdFinish).

   5. Once you have all of the dialog boxes selected go to the Edit menu and select Copy.

   6. Go back to the open workspace (_IsUser.dll) and select the Dialog folder. Next go to the Edit menu and select Paste. This should populate the workspace with the dialog boxes you selected from _isres.dll.

   7. Go back to _isres.dll and double-click the Bitmap folder. Select the bitmap number 103, which is the bitmap used by all three dialog boxes. Next go to the Edit menu and select Copy.

   8. Go back to the open workspace (_IsUser.dll) and select the Dialog folder, then go to the Edit menu and select Paste. This should populate the workspace with the bitmap selected from _isres.dll.

   9. Once you?ve completed this, you no longer need _isres.dll and you can close it without saving any changes made.

5. Make the desired changes to the bitmap number 103.

6. Go to Build and select Rebuild All.

7. The last step is to include the modified _IsUser.dll into your setup.
   1. From within the InstallShield IDE, go to the Setup Files pane and under Language Independent\Operating System Independent, right-click and select Insert Files.

   2. Now go to the folder that you copied in step 1 and go to the subfolder Custom Dialog\VC++ 6 Project\Release.

   3. Insert the file _IsUser.dll.

   4. Rebuild your media to reflect the updated bitmap changed in _IsUser.dll.
