Starting in FlexNet Manager Suite (FNMS) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) version 2024 R2, the product no longer generates Consumed (number) entries in License History for most license types. This change aligns the product with its original intended design and prevents history values from appearing that don’t match actual consumption.
Why consumed history entries changed
Earlier versions, including FNMS 2023 R2, displayed Consumed (number) entries for all license types. This behavior was not intended. The history entries were designed only for Custom Metric licenses because those license types let you manually adjust consumption, and the reconcile process does not calculate consumption for them.
A defect caused the product to write Consumed (number) history entries for all license types. For non‑Custom Metric licenses, the value recorded in history did not represent actual consumption. Instead, it reflected intermediate calculation values that the reconcile process uses before determining the final consumption number.
What changed in FNMS and IT Asset Management 2024 R2
FNMS and ITAM 2024 R2 introduced a fix that stops the product from generating Consumed (number) history entries for all license types except Custom Metric licenses.
This update ensures License History only records meaningful values that reflect user‑driven consumption changes, which applies exclusively to Custom Metric licenses.
What you may still see
You may continue to see older Consumed (number) entries that were logged before upgrading. These historical entries remain in the system because the fix does not remove or modify previously captured history.
The issue that has been resolved is described in the Flexera Community article License history shows consumption flip-flopping between 0 and non-0 values every time reconcile process runs
