Synopsis

A debug log file for InstallShield contains status and error messages useful for debugging the license server. This article provides information on how to access or create a FlexNet License Server debug log.

LMADMIN

If you're using the LMAdmin License Manager, the debug log file is found in the following default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Flexera Software\FlexNet\Licensing Server\logs. However, if the file was not created:

1. Log into LMAdmin from an internet browser: ex. http://[SERVERNAME]:port number (the default port number is 8090).
2. Enter your credentials when prompted. The default credentials are:
   • Username: admin
   • Password: admin
3. Click on the Vendor Daemon Configuration tab on the left hand panel. You should see an entry for the currently active vendor daemon running on the license server.
4. Click on the Administer link.
5. Click on the Vendor Daemon Log bar.
6. Note the Vendor Daemon log location field. This is where the log file is saved.
7. Click on the Save button to save the contents of the log file.

Note: If you're unable to locate the log file after clicking Save, click the View file externally hyperlink to view the log file.

LMTOOLS

If you're using the LMTools License Manager the default location for the LicenseServerDebugLog.log file is: C:\Program Files\Acresso\FLEXnet Licensing Server

By default, lmgrd and the vendor daemons it manages write debug log output to standard out. To put this debug log output in a file, either redirect the output of the license server to a file or start lmgrd with the -l debug_log_path option.
