Symptoms

When starting the report Process Recommendations, which is part of the Admin Module, on a 7.02 SAP system, an ABAP Runtime Error is generated. The details of the error are the following:

Cause

This error is caused when the code of the program ?Process Recommendations? attempts a call to the standard SAP function POPUP_TO_DISPLAY_TEXT. This function has not been officially released by SAP, meaning that it is not officially supported. On 7.02 SAP systems, the function does not exist. As this program imports and processes the recommendations coming from FlexNet Manager Suite, it is one of the major programs of the Admin Module and thus critical.

Resolution

To fix this issue, the function POPUP_TO_DISPLAY_TEXT had to be replaced with another one that exists in all SAP versions, including 7.02. The new function is POPUP_TO_INFORM, which has been released by SAP in 1998.
Note: there are two different transports to apply, depending on the version of SAP:

To install the fix on SAP 7.02:

Download the latest transport files here. Please note that this download link requires the password:: 000020105
Copy the updated transport files from the zip file into the Cofiles and Data folders of the 7.02 SAP system.
Import the transport using the standard SAP process (transaction STMS).

Post installation

The transport should be imported successfully into the 7.02 SAP system. The report Process Recommendations should start correctly, without any ABAP Runtime Error being generated.

Uninstalling

The deletion transports (Step 2 and 3 from the zip file) can be used to delete the contents of the SAP transport.
