Symptoms

When uninstalling an MSI based installation that installs a font outside of the FontsFolder, the uninstall may trigger a reboot prompt. The machine will not reboot automatically after the uninstall is complete.

Cause

When installing fonts outside of the FontsFolder, a shortcut of the font gets created in the FontsFolder and this is what is used to register the font on the target system. During uninstall, the setup detects that the source file has been deleted and prompts for a reboot to ensure that the font unregistration is performed successfully.

Resolution

When installing fonts, use the predefined folder FontsFolder to ensure that the install and uninstall is performed successfully without any prompts.
