HOTFIX: No Image on the Left Side of the STATUSEX Dialog

Summary

With an InstallScript Skinned Dialog, there is an image that appears on the left side of all of the dialog.

Symptoms

All InstallScript Skinned Dialogs include an image that displayed on the left side. This image does not appear, however, on the Progress dialog displayed as the installation is occurring.


Cause

This behavior is caused by an issue with InstallShield 2014.

Steps To Reproduce

Steps to Reproduce:
  1. Create a new InstallScript or InstallScript MSI project.
  2. Add a file to be installed.
  3. Change the Dialog Skin to Blue.
  4. Build the project.
  5. Run installation, note image is visible on the left on every dialog except the progress dialog.

Resolution

This issue has been submitted as a bug and is pending review from our Engineering team. The issue is being tracked under issue #IOJ-1726120.

Engineering has released a hotfix that resolves this issue. In order to apply the HotFix, please do the following steps:
  1. Close IS 2014 SP 1.
  2. Rename the following files by prepending ORIG_ to the file name:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\2014\Redist\Language Independent\i386\ISSetup.dll
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\2014\Redist\Language Independent\i386\ISP\ISSetup.dll
  3. Copy the HotFixed versions of ISSetup.dll to their respective locations on the target machine.
  4. Start IS 2014 SP 1 and rebuild the project.
