How do I create shortcuts in a Basic MSI Project?

Answer

Shortcuts allow your end users quick access to your product. To create a shortcut, do the following:

1. Navigate to the Shortcuts view in the System Configuration folder within the Installation Designer tab.

2. Right-click on the directory in the Shortcuts explorer where you would like your shortcut to be placed and select New Shortcut from the list.

3. Give your new shortcut a meaningful name. This name is for your reference only and is not displayed to the end users.

4. Click the shortcut and in the shortcut's property pane, set its properties. These properties include the display name, the shortcut's target, and any command-line arguments that you would like to pass to the target.
