Storing multiple instance guids in the registry

Synopsis

When enabling a multi-instance setup by selecting 'Multi-Instance' in the Maintenance tab of the Project Settings, each installation will have a unique INSTANCE_GUID. This article explains how to keep track of the multiple INSTANCE_GUIDs by storing them in the registry, and using the MULTI_INSTANCE_COUNT InstallScript system variable.


Discussion

The sample script below stores the multiple values of INSTANCE_GUID and keeps a counter, using MULTI_INSTANCE_COUNT, in a common registry location. Keep in mind that the registry key and value names can be modified as this is only a sample. This sample merely stores this information in a registry key. It is up to the setup author to use this information within their setup.
