Summary

Disk drive size details are not gathered in inventory by the FlexNet inventory agent when running on AIX 7.1 or 7.2. Disk drives are reported with a size of 0.

Details

The agent queries the AIX ODM (object data manager) to get hardware information, including disk drive size details. Size details are not available in newer versions of AIX from the "size_in_mb" and "size" attributes queried by the agent, leading to the agent reporting that drives are 0 bytes in size.

The lsattr executable can be used to identify whether the drive size details are available in attributes that the agent uses. Output like the following will be received on computers that are affected by this issue:

# lsattr -El hdisk0 -a size_in_mb
lsattr: 0514-528 The "size_in_mb" attribute does not exist in the predefined
        device configuration database.
# lsattr -El hdisk0 -a size
lsattr: 0514-528 The "size" attribute does not exist in the predefined
        device configuration database

This issue has been fixed in the following FlexNet Manager Suite releases: 2022 R1.1 / May 2022 (Cloud), 2022 R2 (On Premises)
