You can use manual mapper configuration settings for situations where the usage of an executable you are interested in is not being metered in another way. This article shows you how to enable manual mapper for the usage agent. This technique primarily applies to Windows computers.
Instructions
You can configure manual mapper in the registry under the following key on a 64-bit system:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ManageSoft Corp\ManageSoft\Usage Agent\CurrentVersion\Manual Mapper\{Product Name}
- Create a hive for the product that contains the application name, the executable path, and the version number. The application name must match the install evidence name in the NDI exactly.
An example of the registry settings is below. More information on this is available in the preferences for managed devices.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ManageSoft Corp\ManageSoft\Usage Agent\CurrentVersion\Manual Mapper\ADOBE CAPTIVATE]
Taken from the NDI display name and must match the installer evidence: "Application"="Adobe Captivate 9 (64 Bit)"
Taken from the NDI file:
"executablepath"="C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 9 x64\AdobeCaptivate.exe"
"Version"="9.0.0.223"
- Manual mapping must be enabled on the agent once you’ve set the product key. To do this, change the UseManualMapper registry key to True.
The default location for this is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ManageSoft Corp\ManageSoft\Usage Agent\CurrentVersion
- If the usage needs to be detected immediately, restart the Flexera Inventory Manager Security Service. The session will now be added to the log file.
