Summary
This article provides sample code which should configure the installer to write an entry into the install log generated during installation by InstallAnywhere.Synopsis
In order to better debug an installation, it is often helpful to configure Custom Code Actions to write information into the installation log. This article provides sample code which should configure the installer to write an entry into the install log file generated during installation by InstallAnywhere.
Discussion
The CustomError class enables you to write additional information to the installation log. The following Custom Code Action illustrates how to configure the installer to write an entry into the install log.import com.zero.ia.pub.*;
public class LogMessage extends CustomCodeAction {
public String getInstallStatusMessage() { return null; }
public String getUninstallStatusMessage() { return null; }
public void uninstall(UninstallerProxy up) throws InstallException {}
public void install(InstallerProxy ip) throws InstallException {
String message = ip.substitute("This is the message");
String description = ip.substitute("This is the description");
String remedialText = ip.substitute("This is remedial text");
CustomError error = (CustomError)ip.getService(CustomError.class);
error.appendMessage(message);
error.setLogDescription(description);
error.setRemedialText(remedialText);
error.log();
}
}
