Does IS2009 check for IIS installed?
We upgrade from IS2008 to IS2009.

From documentation I come to the conclusion that when IIS is not installed that there will be a dialog shown to the user and afterwards the setup will be aborted.

I am using a IIStest project with just 1 feature 1 component 1 website associated with that component.

the components destination property is set to \edupub

When running this project with IIS installed i don't have any problems.

When running this project without IIS installed i get an syntaxis error.

to me that seems the destination property is translated earlier then the check for IIS install is done or i take the wrong conclusions from the documenation.

Does anybody know anything about this IIS installed check?

documenation can be found here:

“Creating Installations”->”Configuring Servers”->”Managing Internet Information Services”->”Runtime Requirements for IIS Support in Installshield”

we don't want to put IIS as an prerequisite to make the setup as small as possible.

  • Further along in the documentation it says that if IIS is not installed then the files should be installed to the root directory.

&8220;Creating Installations&8221;->&8221;Configuring Servers&8221;->&8221;Managing Internet Information Services&8221;->&8221;Adding IISROOTFOLDER Support &8221; but i still get the error.
