Summary
The article explains why you may get 100% CPU usage on IBM AIXSymptoms
After running for 12 hours the vendor daemon starts consuming up to 100% of the CPU time.Cause
The cause was found to be a universal problem affecting not just FNP - these are examples from internet forums

And this posting suggests the same thing
Abstract
There is a problem with AIX 5.2 (bos.net.tcp.client 5.2.0.75) and AIX 5.3 (bos.net.tcp.client 5.3.0.50) that causes problems with WebSphere Voice Response.
Content
When a TCP connection goes idle, the remote end (which need not be AIX) sends TCP 'keepalives'. AIX will respond to five 'keepalives' and stop responding after that. This causes the TCP connection to close unexpectedly.

When a TCP connection goes idle, the remote end (which need not be AIX) sends TCP 'keepalives'. AIX will respond to five 'keepalives' and stop responding after that. This causes the TCP connection to close unexpectedly.
The result of this problem is that Java RMI and SSI clusters will timeout after just over 12 hours of inactivity, resulting in the failure of WebSphere Voice Response.
Solution
AIX 5.3 is corrected by APAR IY89429 and is now available from FixCentral as bos.net.tcp.client 5.3.0.54.
AIX 5.2 is corrected by APAR IY89387 and is now available from FixCentral as bos.net.tcp.client 5.2.0.98.

AIX 5.2 is corrected by APAR IY89387 and is now available from FixCentral as bos.net.tcp.client 5.2.0.98.
Resolution
As described above upgrading AIX with these patches will resolve the issue
