The 2025 R1 release updates the timestamps of the files under the folder /tmp/FLEXnet and requires the file to have read-write permission.

Reason for Updating

Certain operating systems delete the files/folders under tmp if they are old, thinking they are not needed. Updating timestamps keeps the files/folders from being deleted.

Workaround

If you face the following error or permission issue, perform the following workaround.

When upgrading to 2025 R1 or higher, the Flex-enabled application can crash with the error:

Terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error' what(): CMutexObj::unlock file timestamp update failed - : Permission deniedAborted (core dumped)

In such a case, delete the complete /tmp/FLEXnet folder. The application will then create the folders and files with the right permissions. The Flex-enabled application would then work as expected.
