Users may notice that Active Directory discovery appears successful, but many users do not show up in Snow License Manager.
This question stems from a misunderstanding about the purpose of discovery data.
- Discovery data highlights users or objects that are not captured through agent-based or SIM-based inventory.
- While discovery data can sometimes help link sources (e.g., Microsoft 365 and agent reports), it is not suitable for:
- Compliance calculations
- Populating detailed reports such as All users
- Showing which user is associated with a specific application or computer
Discovery data supplements inventory but does not act as full inventory for reporting or compliance purposes.
It's meant to highlight what is overlooked by the inventoried data from the agent or SIM.
