Create the Cost and Usage Report (CUR)
- Login to the AWS console and select Account under your login in the top right corner.
- From the menu on the left hand side of the screen, select Cost & Usage Reports.
- Click Create Report.
- On the Report Content page, provide a meaningful Name and enable the Include resource IDs checkbox. Click Next.
- Under Delivery options click Configure to create or specify a new S3 bucket for the Cost and Usage report data.
If prompted for a new bucket, confirm the policy and click Save.
- Confiure the remaining options as follows and then click Next:
- Report path prefix: Provide a meaningful name.
- Time granularity: Hourly
- Report versioning: Overwrite existing report
- Compression type: GZIP
- Review and complete.
Enable Billing Tags
- Still in the Account Settings UI from the previous procedure, select Cost allocation tags from the left-hand menu.
- Select any tags from the list you want to make available in the CUR, and click Activate.
Activated tags flow into Snow Cloud Cost.
Create Event Notifications on the CUR S3 Bucket
- In the AWS S3 administration console, select the S3 bucket containing your CUR report as configured in section 1, and switch to the Properties tab.
- Under Event notifications click Create event notification.
- Provide a meaningful Event name.
- Under Event types > Object creation select All object create events.
- Under Destination, Select SNS topic and Enter SNS topic ARN.
Enter the value below as the SNS topic and click Save changes.

Create the Access Management Policy
- Download the SnowCloudCostPolicy.json file.
- In the AWS administration console, switch to the Identity and Access Management (IAM) service. Navigate to Access management > Policies.
- Click Create policy and switch to the JSON tab. Copy in the contents of the SnowCloudCostPolicy,json file you downloaded in Step 1.
- Edit lines 11 and 12 to match your bucket name. Click Next: Tags.
- Give the policy a meaningful name and click Create policy.
Create a Snow Cloud Cost Role
- Navigate to Access management > Roles.
- Under Trusted entity type select AWS account, and then choose Another AWS account and enter 932213950603. Click Next.
- Filter the list to locate the policy created in the previous section, select it and click Next.
- Provide a meaningful Name for the role and confirm that the correct policy has been applied then click Create role.
Get the Role ARN
- Still in the IAM section, click Roles and filter for the role created in the previous sections.
- Click on the role to open its details, where you can copy the ARN value.
- When prompted by the Wizard adding AWS to Snow Cloud Cost, enter this value and click Next.
- Download the Connection Validation File and then upload it to your S3 bucket alongside the billing folder.
- Wait for 5 minutes and then click Connect in Snow Cloud Cost.
The initial synchronization between AWS and Snow Cloud Cost can take up to 24 hours to complete. Until synchronization has completed, you will see the following in Snow Cloud Cost:
