Your AKS Ocean cluster may fail to scale up and show a parsing error in the Flexera console. This happens when the autoscaler tries to create a node pool using a Kubernetes version that isn’t valid for the AKS API version you’re using. These steps help you understand the issue and resolve it.
- Review the error message in the console logs
Look for an error similar to:Failed to perform scale up for virtual node group xxxxx (vng-xxxxx). Got status code different from SC_OK : 400 Body { "code": "BadRequest", "details": null, "message": "Client Error: error parsing version(1.26). If you would like to use alias minor version, please use api version starting from 2022-03-02-preview", "subcode": "" } -
Specify the exact patch version
If you want to use a specific Kubernetes version, include the full patch version rather than only the minor version.
For example, use:-
1.26.3 instead of 1.26
-
- Check the AKS API version
Make sure your AKS API version supports alias minor versions.
If the message recommends a version (such as 2022-03-02-preview), upgrade your AKS API version to at least that version. - Update the Ocean cluster configuration
After confirming the correct patch version and API version, update your cluster configuration and apply the changes.
After you update the version fields and API version, Ocean can parse the Kubernetes version correctly and scale your cluster as expected.
