You can control which instance types Ocean uses when scaling your cluster. This helps you meet performance, cost, or compliance requirements. You can allow, block, or filter instance types in your cluster configuration or through an API.
-
Choose the type of instance control you want to use
You can configure one of the following options:-
Blacklist: Blocks specific instance types from launching in the cluster. You can’t use a blacklist with a whitelist.
-
Whitelist: Allows only the instance types you specify. You can’t use a whitelist with a deny list.
-
Filtering: Creates a set of filters that determine the allowed instance types. All matching instance types form the cluster’s allow list. You can’t use filtering together with allow or deny lists.
-
-
Update your Ocean cluster configuration
Edit your cluster’s JSON configuration and update thecompute.instanceTypessection with the allow list, deny list, or filters you want to use. -
Optionally configure instance types through the API
You can also allow, block, or filter instance types using the Ocean API if you prefer managing configuration programmatically.
