Creating a Budget

1. From the navigation menu, click Monitoring > Budget.

2. Click Create New Budget. 
3. Configure the budget:
   1. Enter a meaningful Budget Name. 
   2. Enter the Budget Amount.
   3. Choose whether the budget is a Monthly Recurring budget or one for a specific Period.
      • If choosing Monthly Recurring, also choose a Start Month and an End Month.

• If choosing Period, also choose a Start Month and an End Month.
• If you want to use the same Budget Amount each month, select Fixed. Otherwise, select Monthly Budget Planning and provide specific amounts per month.
• If you want any unspent budget to roll over to the next period, check the Flexible checkbox. 

4. Add any filtering to include or exclude charges in the budget.  filters are included in the budget,  filters are excluded. Clicking the icons toggle between the two states for the following selectable values: 
   • Subscription Name
   • Service
   • Resource Group
   • Tags
   • Cost Center

In the example above, the budget will include the Quality Assurance Subscription ID but exclude the devops Resource Group.

5. If you want to configure alerting to notify people when a certain budgetary threshold has been passed:

1. Enable Send Alerts.
2. Enter the percentage threshold for when the alert should be sent.
3. Choose to alert on Forecasted and/or Actual Usage by enabling the respective checkboxes.
   • Forecasted means the alert will be triggered once Snow Cloud Cost predicts the configured threshold will be consumed within the budget period. 
   • Actual Usage means the alert will be triggered once Snow Cloud Cost sees that the configured threshold has been consumed. 
4. Choose to alert on Daily, Monthly or Total Granularity by enabling the respective checkboxes. 
5. Add one or more email address as Recipients for the alerting. Use commas to separate addresses. 
6. Click  to add additional alerts, or  to remove an alert. 

6. Click Add Budget. 
    

Managing Budgets

The full list of budgets configured in Snow Cloud Cost appears on the Budget page. Filter the list by Budget Name using the Search tool. 

Expand each row to view the latest budget statues. You can browse forward and backward for more details using the date controls. 


Click the action menu  to Edit or Delete a budget.
