In Snow Automation Platform, when a user’s display name is updated in Active Directory, the change does not automatically sync to the application. As a result, the old name may continue to appear in the banner, task logs, or other parts of the interface.
This happens because the display name is stored the first time a user accesses the platform and is not updated unless explicitly synced.
To update the stored display name, use the attached automation book to synchronize user data from Active Directory. This service allows you to manually or programmatically update the user display name within Snow Automation Platform. You can configure this automation as a scheduled task to ensure that user details remain current without manual intervention.
Manually sync a user's display name
Use the built-in service created by the automation book to sync a specific user’s display name.
- Download the attached file:
ap-usecase-SyncADDisplayName-main.
- In Snow Automation Platform, navigate to: Administer > Service Admin.
- Click Import, select the downloaded file, and save.
- After importing, a service called SynchronizeUserDisplayName will appear in your list of services.
- Add the service to your cart.
- In the User field, enter the user whose display name needs to be updated.
- Click Submit.
The system will retrieve the current display name from Active Directory and update it in Snow Automation Platform.
