In some cases, the Could downgrade to field in the Application > Information tab appears empty for all applications. As a result, automatic downgrade rights are not applied, and compliance calculations may appear incorrect.
This issue occurs when the automatic downgrade rights feature has been disabled in the Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC). When this setting is disabled, downgrade paths stored in the database are not applied automatically, even if they exist.
Investigation steps
- Verify that downgrade paths exist in the database
Run the following SQL queries in SQL Server Management Studio, replacing<ApplicationID>with the relevant ID:-- Check automatically defined downgrade paths SELECT DowngradePaths FROM SnowLicenseManager.dbo.tblApplication; -- Check for manually defined downgrade paths SELECT * FROM SnowLicenseManager.dbo.tblApplicationCompatibility;Expected results:
- The
tblApplicationtable should contain downgrade path data. - The
tblApplicationCompatibilitytable should not contain entries unless manual downgrade paths have been configured.
- The
- If all applications are missing downgrade paths:
- Confirm that downgrade paths exist in
dbo.tblApplication. - Confirm that no manual downgrade paths exist in
dbo.tblApplicationCompatibility. - If both are true, the automatic downgrade setting is likely disabled in SMACC.
- Confirm that downgrade paths exist in
- Open Snow Management and Configuration Center (SMACC) using your administrator credentials.
- In the left navigation pane, go to Configuration > Basic settings.
- On the Basic settings page, look for the setting named
USE_AUTO_DOWNGRADE.- This setting activates automatic downgrade rights as the default for applications. For more details, see Basic settings.
- Enable
USE_AUTO_DOWNGRADE.
After enabling this setting, downgrade relationships defined in dbo.tblApplication will be applied automatically, and the Could downgrade to field will populate correctly in Snow License Manager.
