The Data Intelligence Service (DIS) sends the exact same data to every environment, regardless of your product version. Therefore it should not matter which type of environment you are using, what version and whether that is a Test or Production environment. The outbound data is identical for all environments.
Differing application count values between 2 environments, may indicate that either there is a time delay in the environments to download and sync the Software Recognition Service (SRS) Update, or one of the environments isn't fully up to date and requires a full Software Recognition Service (SRS) Ruleset update. This setting is configured in Snow Management and Configuration Center, which can be found under; Configuration --> System Core Settings --> RUN_COMPLETE_RULESET_DAY and select a day for this complete Ruleset update to run. Alternatively, you can down download an offline SRS Update package through the Snow Update Service (SUS).
There is no configuration setting to specify which environment data should be sent to (e.g. only to Production and not a Test environment), or which apps should trigger in a particular environment Snow License Manager (SLM) version. It's always the same data sent to all environments.
If you do experience a difference between application counts on different environments check that all SRS synchronisation packages are up to date visible through the update logs in SUS. If the previous days SRS package is not present in these logs, this may indicate a problem within the configuration of the SRS Synchronisation dates or an issue with the Snow Update Service (SUS) / Data Update Job (DUJ). If you require some additional guidance about how this check this please contact Snow Support.
When should I expect Data Intelligence Service (DIS) releases to become available?
DIS follows a continuous delivery model, which packages all updates from a work day, which exports these updates during the nightly outbound synchronisation, and imported into an end-user environment later that night. The cadence of update settings is configurable in the Snow Management and Configuration Center settings. DIS recommends daily checks to ensure the latest data is present in the end-user environments.
If a new release of Software License Manager (SLM) is available, and has different functionality with the DIS data than it previously had in earlier SLM versions, then any required changes to how SLM calculates the data will be included in a future SLM release (rather than a DIS release).
