On servers with limited disk space, managing package storage is important for keeping your Flexera Beacon operating efficiently. When agent and beacon upgrades are set to occur automatically, version-specific installer packages are downloaded and stored locally on the beacon. Over time, these packages can accumulate and consume significant space, often several hundred MB per version.
By default, these packages are stored in the following locations:
- Agent installer packages:
C:\ProgramData\Flexera Software\Staging\Common\Packages\Flexera
- Beacon installer packages:
C:\ProgramData\Flexera Software\Beacon\Staging\Common\Packages\Flexera
Prevent package regeneration
To ensure deleted packages don't return, you need to update the upgrade settings in the Flexera One UI.
1. Stop automatic agent package downloads
- Go to Data Collection > IT Assets Inventory Tasks > Inventory Settings.
- Under Inventory agent for automatic deployment, locate the Upgrade Mode setting.
- Set Upgrade Mode to Do not upgrade automatically.
2. Stop automatic beacon package downloads
- Go to Data Collection > IT Assets Inventory Tasks > Beacons.
- Locate the desired beacon and click the pencil icon under the Actions column.
- On the Beacon properties page, set Upgrade Mode to Do not upgrade automatically.
Manually delete old packages
After the settings are changed:
- Delete agent packages from:
C:\ProgramData\Flexera Software\Staging\Common\Packages\Flexera - Delete beacon packages from:
C:\ProgramData\Flexera Software\Beacon\Staging\Common\Packages\Flexera
Enhancement request
Deletion must be done manually via the file system. There is currently no automated method within the UI or application. Flexera is currently tracking a feature request to automate this cleanup process. You can view and vote on the idea here:
