Organizations may need to adjust the default execution times of Oracle scanners, such as the Snow Inventory Java Scanner (SIJS), Oracle Middleware Scanner (SIOMS), Oracle Hardware Scanner (SIOHWS), and Snow Inventory Oracle Scanner (SIOS), to align with specific operational requirements. This article provides a step-by-step guide on incorporating custom cron schedules into the Snow Agent installation package using the Snow Atlas Package Builder.
NOTE: If only a specific scanner needs adjustment, you don't have to follow all the steps above. Instead, perform the steps specific to the Oracle scanner cron file you want to modify.
- Access the Package Builder

- Log in to Snow Atlas.
- Navigate to the Package Builder section.
- Create a new installation package

- Initiate the creation of a new installation package (this example is packaging Snow Agent for Linux).
- Select the appropriate platform (Linux, for example) for the Snow Agent.
- Provide the necessary package details as prompted.
- Enable and configure the Java Scanner (SIJS)

- In the Scanning modules section, locate and enable the Java scanner.
- Click on the Customize link associated with the Java Scanner.

- Scroll to the Cron configuration section.
- Select Include custom.
- Click Browse file and upload your custom sijscron.conf file containing the desired schedule. Then select Save.
- Enable and configure the Snow Inventory Oracle Hardware Scanner (SIOHWS)

- Enable the Oracle scanning module.
- Click on the Customize link for the Oracle Hardware Scanner.

- Find Snow Inventory Oracle Hardware Scanner version x.x.x
- Scroll to the Cron configuration section.

- Select Include custom.
- Click Browse file and upload your custom siohwscron.conf file. Then select Save.
- Enable and configure the Snow Inventory Oracle Middleware Scanner (SIOMS)

- If you’ve followed the previous steps, the Oracle scanner is enabled.
- Within the Customize menu for Oracle, find Snow Inventory Middleware Scanner version x.x.x.
- Scroll to the Cron configuration section.
- Select Include custom.
- Click Browse and upload your custom siomscron.conf file. Then select Save.
- Include additional files for the Snow Inventory Oracle Scanner (SIOS)

- If you need to adjust the scan schedule for the Snow Inventory Oracle Scanner (SIOS) as well, prepare a custom
snowcron.conffile with the desired cron schedule. - In the Upload additional files section of the Package Builder, upload the snowcron.conf file.

NOTE: The Oracle scanner is run right after the Snow Agent scan.
