How to: collect Snow Inventory logs and configurations

List of logs plus more and their location. Location is for logs on the Inventory/Application server unless stated otherwise.

Snow Inventory Server

Logs information about discovery, deployment, file processing, file receiving and web metering. Applies for gateways too.
Location - %:\ProgramData\SnowSoftware\Inventory\Server

Server Manager logs (5.x, 6.x)
Logs status of the Inventory Server service.
Location - %:\ProgramData\SnowSoftware\Inventory\ServerManager

– Snow Active Directory Discovery (ADD) tool 1.x (Snow Inventory 3.2)
Logs information about Discovery from AD.
Location - %:\ProgramData\Snow Software\Snow Inventory\Server\snowserver.log

– Snow Inventory Data Processor (Snow Inventory 3.2)
Logs information from the processing of .inv files
Should also mention Incoming - Error folder
Location - %:\Program Files\Snow Software\Inventory Data Processor\Logs\SnowIDP.log

.inv files that have failed to process are stored in the Incoming Error folder.
Location - %:\Program Files (x86)\Snow Software\Snow Inventory\Server\Data\Incoming\Error

– Snow Inventory Data Receiver (Snow Inventory 3.2)
Location - %:\Program Files\Snow Software\Snow Inventory Data Receiver\Logs

Installed on the Windows endpoint.

Installed on the Windows endpoint.

Installed on the macOS endpoint.
Location - /Library/Application Support/Snow Software/client.lg

– Snow Inventory Client for Linux (Snow Inventory 3.2)
Installed on the Linux endpoint.
Location - /etc/snow/client.lg

– Snow Inventory Client for Unix (Snow Inventory 3.2)
Installed on the Unix endpoint.
(Installation is manual and can often be installed elsewhere, suggested location below)
Location - /opt/snow/unixclient.lg

– Snow Update Service (SLM 7.x, 8.x, 9.x)
Used to apply updates.
