When installing a new version of Snow Integration Manager (SIM), you might encounter an error message:
"Service 'Snow Integration Manager' (SnowIntegrationManager) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."
This article outlines steps to resolve the issue.
- Run the installer as Administrator. Right-click the SIM installer and select Run as Administrator.
- Verify the Log On account for the "Snow Integration Manager" service:
- Open Services, locate Snow Integration Manager, right-click it, and select Properties.
- Go to the Log On tab and check the account configured.
- By default, this can sometimes be set to Local System account. If corporate restrictions prevent this, change it to an account that has sufficient rights to start the service.
- Check that you meet the .NET Framework requirements. Even with sufficient privileges, this error can occur if the required version of Microsoft .NET Framework is not installed — even though the error message does not mention this.
- Refer to the System Requirements in the Snow Integration Manager documentation for the exact .NET version needed.
- To check your installed version, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.
- If your installed version is older than required, install the correct Microsoft .NET Framework version and then retry the Snow Integration Manager installation.
Once the correct Microsoft .NET Framework version is installed, you should be able to complete the Snow Integration Manager installation successfully.
