- The Android device name is being shortened in Inventory after the Intune import from Snow Integration Manager (SIM) connector.
- This results in duplicate names for the mobile devices because only the first name of the user is used as the device name.
- The name is shortened after the first '.' dot.
- The below example shows how the device name is presented in Inventory or Snow License Manager:
- Snow Inventory 6.8.3
- Snow License Manager 9.27
- The expectation is that from the inventory files collected from the Intune connector which has the full name of device.
- The name after processing the file should remain same and not cut off in Inventory and then in Snow License Manager.
- In this scenario the reason was that the customer has Hostname Normalization setup in snowserver.config file :

</SiteConfiguration>
</HostnameNormalization>
- Add another condition in the snowserver.config file within the HostnameNormalization parameter which targets the configuration name of the machines that are coming from VMware only.
- Example shown below:

<SiteNames name="A">
<SiteName>DZ_SAM_*</SiteName>
</SiteNames>

<ConfigName>*VMware*</ConfigName>

- Hostname normalization truncating after the first dot due to snowserver.config file setting.
