Monitor detached ECS instances using tags

Title

You can monitor detached container instances by using the tags added automatically by the system. These tags help you identify when an instance is detached and make it easier to track state changes in your environment.

Detached instance tags

When an instance becomes detached, Flexera adds the following tag:

Key: spotinst:aws:ec2:state
Value: detached

For spot instances, the spot request is tagged.

For on‑demand instances, the instance itself is tagged.

Use these tags in your monitoring tools to filter, alert, and track instances that move into a detached state.
