After installing the Beacon, a Task Scheduler error may appear:
An error has occurred for task ‘Upload Flexera inventories’.Error message: A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated.
In Task Scheduler, the Beacon folder is created in the Task Scheduler Library, but no individual Beacon tasks appear. As a result, the Beacon is unable to connect to the application server because no schedules exist. This behavior is caused by the following Windows security policy that prevents Task Scheduler from storing credentials required by Beacon tasks:
Network access: Do not allow storage of passwords and credentials for network authentication
Beacon task credentials cannot be stored in Windows Credential Manager when this policy is active, resulting in failed task creation and the logon session error.
Disable the security policy and reconfigure the Beacon so tasks can be created successfully.
- Check the status of the following policy in the Windows Security Options applied to the machine running the Beacon:
Network access: Do not allow storage of passwords and credentials for network authentication
- If the policy is enabled, work with your IT / Domain Administrators to set this policy to:
Disabled - Reconfigure the Beacon so that Task Scheduler can create upload and connection tasks.
Beacon schedules and upload tasks are created successfully, and the Beacon connects to the application server as expected.
