1. In the Flexera console, go to Elastigroup > Groups, then select the group you want to update.

2. Select Actions > Edit configuration.

3. Select Revert to legacy design so you can use simple scaling policies.

4. Select Scaling > Simple scaling policies.

5. Under Up scaling policies or Down scaling policies, select Add policy.

6. Set the policy parameters:

   • Policy type: Simple scaling

   • Source: AWS CloudWatch

   • Auto scale based on: Other

   • Namespace: Custom

   • Custom namespace: CWagent

   • Metric name: Choose a metric collected by the CloudWatch agent. Metrics such as mem_used or mem_used_percent are listed in the AWS documentation.

7. Make sure the CloudWatch agent is installed on your instances.

After you set the scaling policy, Elastigroup scales your AWS environment based on memory utilization reported through the CloudWatch agent.
