When installing Snow Agent for Linux, the installation throws an error stating

dpkg: error processing package snowagent (--install): installed snowagent package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 2 snowagent

The error is due to the Server/machine using different scripting other than /bin/bash

To check what scripting is being used by the machine issue the below command:

ls -l /bin/sh

An example value may be /bin/sh -> dash

IMPORTANT: Confirm with the Linux Administrator that the machine throwing the error due to using different scripting other than what is required (/bin/bash). The Linux Administrator must be informed that /bin/bash will need to be used to resolve the issue. The Linux Administrator should be aware of the change because there might be other applications that require the use of different scripting other than /bin/bash. If they don't agree then do not proceed with these steps.

Below is the process to change the scripting to bash and resolve this issue:

In our example to change it to use /bin/bash execute the following:

rm /bin/sh

sudo ln -s /bin/bash /bin/sh
