- While upgrading Snow License Manager from 9.9 to 9.10 the upgrade is failing with the error:
"System.ApplicationException: Update could not be installed. Instructions have been rolled back. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Only members of sysadmin role are allowed to update or delete jobs owned by a different login."
- Upgrading Snow License Manager from 9.9 to 9.10
- While validating update service logs the below error was seen:
System.ApplicationException: Update could not be installed. Instructions have been rolled back. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Only members of sysadmin role are allowed to update or delete jobs owned by a different login.
- The error is due to a lack of permissions for the user within the database.
- In most cases the database user is LicenseManagerUser.
- One way to avoid this error would be to assign sys admin right to the SQL user.
- Alternatively ensure that the User is the owner of the Snow Licence Manager (SLM) and the Snow Inventory (SI) databases.
- Additional permissions are also needed to the msdb database.
- Please make sure you take backup of the database before running the following SQL statements:
USE msdb ALTER ROLE [SQLAgentOperatorRole] ADD MEMBER [LicenseManagerUser] ALTER ROLE [SQLAgentReaderRole] ADD MEMBER [LicenseManagerUser] ALTER ROLE [SQLAgentUserRole] ADD MEMBER [LicenseManagerUser] GRANT SELECT on sysjobs to LicenseManagerUser GRANT SELECT on sysjobsteps to LicenseManagerUser
- After executing above queries, the errors disappeared from update service logs.
- The error is due to a lack of permissions for the user within the database.
