Your cluster may not be able to perform scaling actions if Azure reports an “invalid client secret” error similar to the following:
- Invalid client secret provided. Ensure the secret being sent in the request is the client secret value, not the client secret ID, for a secret added to app
This happens when the API is configured with the wrong type of secret. Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) uses both a client secret ID and a client secret value, and the system requires the client secret value.
- In Azure, open the app registration used by your AKS cluster.
- Go to Certificates & secrets.
- Generate a new client secret value.
- Copy the value (not the ID).
- Update the configuration with this new value using the API.
- Retry the scaling action.
After updating the API with the correct client secret value, your cluster should be able to perform scaling actions successfully.
