When you try to assign a license in SAM Core, you may see:
- A failure error when assigning the license.
- The “According to Agreement” option for maintenance period is greyed out and cannot be selected.
This happens when there is a mismatch between:
- The agreement period set on the agreement, and
- The maintenance dates stored on the license itself.
Because the license already has its own maintenance period, the “According to Agreement” setting cannot be applied.
- Detach the license from the agreement
- Go to SAM Core > Licenses.
- Open the license record and clear the linked agreement.
- Remove the license-level maintenance periods
- Still in the license record, clear any manually entered Valid from / Valid to dates in the Maintenance section.
- Reattach the license to the agreement
- Edit the license again, and in the Agreement field, re-select the correct agreement.
- Apply “According to Agreement”
- On the license record, under Maintenance period, select According to Agreement.
- The option should now be available (and will inherit the dates from the agreement record).
- Save your changes.
- The license now inherits the maintenance period directly from the agreement.
- The “According to Agreement” option remains selectable.
- License assignment should succeed without error.
