Customers may observe that the Updated Date shown in the Technology Intelligence (TI) Platform does not match the Last Scan Date shown in IT Asset Management (ITAM). This behavior is expected and does not indicate a data issue.
Explanation of Fields
IT Asset Management – Last Scan Date
-
Represents the most recent time the FlexNet Inventory Agent scanned the device.
-
This field is tied directly to agent inventory collection activity.
-
It is the correct field to use when validating agent freshness, scan compliance, or troubleshooting agent deployment.
TI Platform – Updated Date
-
Represents the most recent time the device record was updated in the TI Platform.
-
The record can be updated for several reasons, including:
-
Inventory updates from the FlexNet agent
-
Updates from other discovery sources or connectors
-
Device matching, reconciliation, or normalization
-
Data enrichment or alignment processes
-
Because the TI Platform maintains a unified inventory record, this date reflects any qualifying update, not only FlexNet agent scans.
Why the dates may differ
The TI Platform consolidates data from multiple sources into a single inventory view. As a result:
- A device record may be updated even if the FlexNet agent did not run
- The Updated Date reflects the latest platform-level change
- The field should not be interpreted as an agent scan timestamp
This is why the TI Platform Updated Date and ITAM Last Scan Date may not align.
Which date should be used?
| Scenario | Recommended field |
|---|---|
| Verify when the FlexNet agent last scanned a device | ITAM – Last Scan Date |
| Identify when a device record last changed in the platform | TI Platform – Updated Date |
| Agent health or compliance reporting | ITAM – Last Scan Date |
Summary
- ITAM “Last Scan Date” answers: When did the FlexNet Inventory Agent last scan this device?
- TI Platform “Updated Date” answers: When was this device record last updated for any reason?
Both fields are accurate and serve different purposes.
