Installer evidence for Java applications is reported with the raw evidence type "Java." While the location of this evidence may vary, it is collected by the FlexNet Inventory Agent using a consistent set of commands.

How Java installer evidence is collected by the FlexNet Inventory Agent

Installer evidence of type "Java" is collected by the FlexNet Inventory Agent when it runs one of the following commands: 

java -version
java -fullversion
java -XshowSettings -version

These commands are executed only if a Java executable is found during the file scan. As a result, there will be accompanying file evidence for the Java executable when Java installer evidence is reported. If the Java executable is removed, the agent will not be able to run these commands, and Java installer evidence will not be collected.

How Java evidence appears in the NDI file

Installer evidence of type "Java" is included in the inventory (NDI) file generated by the FlexNet Inventory Agent. A typical entry might look like this:

Additional file evidence when Oracle Java scanning is enabled

If Oracle Java scanning is enabled, the NDI file will also include detailed file evidence for the Java executable, such as version, publisher, and installation metadata:
