Summary

Symptoms

When you are building an InstallShield project, the following error may occur:

Error -6058: Internal build error.

Cause

This error occurs if there is a problem with a merge module that is included in your installation.

Resolution

If more than one merge module is included in the project, first identify the problematic merge module:

1. In the Redistributables view, clear the check boxes for each merge module that may have caused the error.
2. Select the check box for only one of the merge modules that need to be included in the installation.
3. Rebuild the installation. If error -6058 occurs, the merge module selected is the one causing the error. If this error does not occur, continuing adding one merge module to your project at a time, and build the release until the error occurs.
