Symptoms

• ISDEV : fatal error -7160: Fatal Error : Error embedding image resource into setup.exe
• 7160

Cause

When building an InstallShield Basic MSI project, this error is raised if the dialog theme specified in the project is missing in the <ISProductFolder>\Support\Themes folder.

Resolution

To resolve this error, please perform one of the two steps below:

A. Copy the theme files to the folder.

1. Under the Installation Designer tab, in the left pane, go to the Additional Tools/Direct Editor view.
2. In the middle pane, expand the Tables node, and select the InstallShield table.
3. Find the ISTheme row, and note the name of the theme specified in the Property column.
4. Copy the theme files for this theme to the <ISProductFolder>\Support\Themes folder. (By default, this folder is C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield\<version>\Support\Themes)

B. Replace the theme with an existing theme

1. Under the Installation Designer tab, in the left pane, go to the Additional Tools/Direct Editor view.
2. In the middle pane, expand the Tables node, and select the InstallShield table.
3. Find the ISTheme row, and change the theme value specified in the Property column to an existing InstallShield theme stored in the <ISProductFolder>\Support\Themes folder. For example, 'InstallShield Blue.theme'
